- Three main findings:
- Level of segregation higher now than at any time since 1968
- There is a protomilitary form of discipline in these public inner city schools, a type of ordering regime, targeted at Blacks and Hispanics
- Liberal education in center city schools has been replaced by culturally barren and robotic methods not accepted in mainstream society and in more racially diverse schools or those with higher SES status
- Urban schools serving minorities have been forced to close libraries or beginning half days for kindergarteners due to lack of funding
- Segregation of young children destroys innocence and teaches minority children from an early age that society views them as different
- Black and Hispanic students still trained for trade jobs in schools
- School districts and those who make decisions about the districts should listen more to the teachers regarding the proper curriculum because these teachers know their students, know how they need to be taught, and know the proper way to introduce them to “balanced literature” and mixed learning between ability groups
