Who Goes Where? How Kindergarteners' Social Background Maps Onto the Quality of the Elementary Schools They Attend

  • Consistent pattern-more advantaged children attend schools of higher quality. Blacks, Hispanics and non-English speaking children are more likely to attend schools of lower ability and lower average SES. Black and Hispanic children attend schools with fewer resources.
